Cotton vs. Wooden Wicks
With so many wick options which is best?
Short answer is it all comes down to preference. I started out making all my candles with cotton wicks, which produce a tall flame at the tip of the wick. Wooden wicks typically burn lower and smolders over time, and the ones I use also have a wonderful crackling sound as they burn.
Either way you need to keep those wicks trimmed up to keep your candles burning smoothly, so if you don't have one already I highly recommend a wick trimmer!
Given each person has varying preferences I offer my 3oz tins with cotton wicks, and my 7oz glass jars with wooden crackling wicks.
